China Girl !!!

OOooooh we've had some really exciting news after school today!

I don't often share family news on my blog! but I am about to burst!!

My dearest darling Rachel is one of 10 pupils from her school to be offered a place on a

once in a lifetime trip to China

as one of the talented linguists in her school when her GSCE's have finished in July.

The University of Central Lancashire is sponsoring the visit & will arrange Chinese language tuition for pupils every day (for 2 weeks!) & provide the opportunity for all students to take part in excursions to the Great Wall, Summer Palace, the Olympic Park and the Forbidden City with also the chance to sample some traditional Chinese culture such as Chinese traditional acrobatics, Beijing Opera and Hutong tour.

We have been told Rachel will achieve an Asset language qualification in Chinese.....

OOOOOOOH we are ALL so excited for her!! Rachel has loved all things Chinese since being a little girl & this offer has lifted everyone's spirits.

Rachel has watched her family circumstances change so much over the last 3 years & has experienced many things I would never wish a young person to go through & she has been strong & a dear friend throughout. She so thoroughly deserves this opportunity.

It isn't free of course! & we have a lot of things to arrange including a passport & I'm sure she doesn't believe she'll get to go as she always says when things don't work out .... I didn't expect it to go any other way! but we are going to try our best to make sure she does get to go. :D

We paid for her Prom ticket today & Rachel has had her Prom dress for a few months now but we're going to have to ask for a refund for the ticket as they fall at the same time... typical! Don't know what we're going to do with the dress!

What an end to the week!

I sincerely hope everyone has a lovely long weekend & enjoy whatever makes you happy. Thank you for reading my news.

Love Gez.xx
